What makes Ayurveda effective is that it recognizes each person as a unique combination of the tridoshas (the three energies). These energies govern over specific principles within the body and mind; Vata is the movement force, Pitta is transformation and Kapha is structure.
The practice of Ayurveda focuses on finding each person’s optimal balance, current imbalances and how to restore equilibrium.
An ayurvedic assessment uses several tools to identify the current imbalances including tongue and pulse diagnosis along with detailed analysis of one’s lifestyle habits. Once the assessment is complete, a suitable chikitsa (lifestyle intervention) is developed.
